Contact
The best and only way to contact me for business inquiries is via email at [email protected]. Otherwise, I keep my Instagram updated the most frequently with news or changes to my bookings or commission slots. I don’t, however, accept business/client messages there via DM as it can become too complicated or confusing.
FAQ
Are you currently taking tattoo appointments?
Yes! My books open once every 2-3 months for requests via an online form. I keep my Instagram updated on when each booking round will be, and try to give everyone plenty of notice. More info on how my booking process works can be found in my “FAQ” highlight on Instagram specifically. I also post new flash pieces that become available regularly.
Where are you located/working?
I am currently working out of Heart and Dagger Tattoo Shop, which is located in Glace Bay, NS.
Are you still selling art/prints/stickers?
Yes! You can find any merch I have available through my online store here - local pickup is free! I also try to announce via Instagram when I’m attending any local markets.
Commission
Terms and Conditions
Pricing
Commission prices are broken down based on a number of things including but not limited to: time allotted to the project (at least minimum wage), the money spent on art supplies or art programs, skill set, etc.I will not negotiate on prices, I try to provide a price list for commission styles when I can so folks know what to expect before requesting a piece (see price lists and examples below), however I cannot haggle as I am pricing pieces as fairly as I can while still paying myself a decent wage.If you are commissioning something that doesn’t have a set price list I will always respond to you with a quote (assuming I am happy to take on that project) and there are no strings attached at that point. The only thing I ask is that you do reply even if a price is currently outside of your budget, so that I know you are no longer currently interested.
Shipping
Shipping prices, should it be necessary, will be calculated once I know where it is being shipped and how large the package will be. Local pickup is always free.
Payment
Payments can be arranged one of two ways: either the entire fee upfront, or split in half - the first half upfront and the remaining half once the artwork is finished. Your piece will not be started until I have received payment, and you will not receive a non-watermarked version of your artwork, or be able to pick it up (depending on whether you’ve chosen digital or traditional), until payment has been made in full.Payment can be made either via a PayPal invoice that I send you, or via e-transfer.
Wait Times
Wait times can vary depending on how backed up my order list is, and I will likely decide to close submissions if I feel my workload is becoming too overwhelming. Submissions are accepted first come first serve, and I’ll post semi-regular updates via my Instagram stories using clients initials to show where I am/how many pieces are ahead of yours. If two people share the same initials I will try to make a distinction in brackets related to your request. Each piece takes me at MINIMUM a few hours of uninterrupted work time, and depending on whether folks have requested WIP (work in progress) updates this can take me much longer as each step of the process needs to be approved. This process also lengthens when requests are larger or include more detail. Working on commissions is a large part of my work day however it is not the only aspect of my job so other elements do also come into play here, as well as my work week which is Tues-Fri, taking Sat-Mon off. Please be patient with me as I navigate this work-life balance and figuring out how much I can take on at once! All in all please expect a wait of anywhere from a week to a few weeks, and please only send in a request if you’re willing to wait this amount of time.
Work In Progress
WIP or “Work in Progress” photos are pretty much exactly what they sound like, and can go one of three ways:
1. You can decide to opt out of WIPs entirely which means once I receive all the necessary information from you and receive a payment I will start your piece immediately and you won’t receive any photos until the finished product. If you choose to opt out of WIPs this does mean that I can only make 1-2 relatively basic changes at the end should something appear not as you pictured it. This does, however, speed the process up significantly as I don’t need to wait for approval before moving through each step.
2. Second option is to receive a single WIP sketch photo, which shows you the general layout and rough details that will be featured in your piece. Choosing this method allows you to correct any changes (within reason) at the very base level that may need to be made.
3. Thirdly, you can choose to receive WIP photos throughout the whole process (sketch, linework, flat colours, shading and highlights, and final) which allows you maximum control over making changes should something be wrong with your piece (within reason, of course). This option gives you maximum input but does also slow the process down as I will have to wait to hear back from you after every WIP is sent before I can continue with the next step. Please choose whichever option feels most comfortable to you!
